Colby College Shines at 2025 NESCAC Championships

Middletown, Connecticut – Colby College Men's and Women's Track, Field, and Cross Country teams traveled to Wesleyan University for the 2025 NESCAC Championships, turning in a strong day packed with individual titles, podium finishes, and major contributions across all event areas. Both Men's and Women's was placed in sixth place. 

The women's team had an outstanding day. Simone Waheed captured the NESCAC title in the 100 Meter Dash, winning in 12.15 seconds. Fiona Mejico claimed another victory for the Mules, dominating the 400 Meter Hurdles with a winning time of 1:00.54. Kaitlyn Ewald added two major silver-medal performances, placing second in both the 200 Meters with a time of 25.18 and the 400 Meters in 56.27. Olivia Doherty finished sixth in the 400, running a strong 57.55. Colby's relays were another highlight of the day. The 4x100 Meter Relay team, composed of Tally Zeller, Fiona Mejico, Simone Waheed, and Charlotte Brake-Hoffman, raced to a second-place finish in 47.31. In the 4x400 Meter Relay, the team of Michelle Barnes, Olivia Doherty, Kaitlyn Ewald, and Tally Zeller also secured second place with a time of 3:48.75, showing the team's depth and cohesion.
In the mid-distance events, Maddie Bush ran 2:23.35 to place 17th in the 800 Meter Run and followed with a 16th-place finish in the 1500 Meter Run at 4:53.98. On the distance side, Claire Beebe, Emily Jeon, Bridget Meehan, and Abby Souza competed fiercely in the long-distance events. Beebe finished 13th in the 5000 Meter Run with a time of 17:39.91, while Jeon, Meehan, and Souza competed in the 10,000 Meter Run, finishing consecutively in 15th, 16th, and 17th positions. In the field events, Sarah Lenox competed in the High Jump, clearing 1.41 meters, and Gabriella Bresnick represented Colby in the Pole Vault.


The men's team showed similar strength and balance across the meet. In the sprints, Ian Irwin and Peter Martel both qualified for the 100 Meter Dash final after strong preliminary performances. In the 400 Meter Dash, Ren Zanze led the Mules with a 9th-place finish, clocking 48.83, while Sam Graubart and Jackson Coelho followed closely behind in 49.21 and 49.44, respectively. Middle-distance standout Henry Reichle scored in the 800 Meter Run with an 8th-place finish in a time of 1:54.11. In the relays, the men's 4x400 Meter team of Jackson Coelho, Peter Martel, Levi Biery, and Sam Graubart delivered a thrilling second-place performance, finishing in 3:16.03 in one of the closest races of the day.


Colby's pole vaulters dominated the field events, showing incredible depth and consistency. Wyatt Patterson earned a podium finish by placing third after clearing 4.60 meters. Lexington Lehnert finished sixth at 4.40 meters, followed by Myles Thornton-Sherman in seventh at 4.25 meters, and Logan Lehnert rounded out the group with a tenth-place finish at 4.10 meters.

The Mules will later be in Williams College at Williamstown, Mass. starting on May 9 for the F.I.R.E Meet.
