Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Field Hockey team will begin their season this Saturday September, 6th hosting the Bowdoin College Polar Bears. In last years season opener the Mules upset #16 Bowdoin in a thrilling double overtime matchup 5-4 in Brunswick. The Polar Bears begin 2025 with a 24th place NFHCA ranking.
Colby lost four seniors to graduation in May including starting goalkeeper
Leah Anderson and second team All-NESCAC selection
Casey Winslow, but will have seven new seniors ready to lead the way.
Ella Brockelman,
Lily Conway,
Lily Harrington,
Jenna London,
Catie McNulty,
Molly Mitchell and
Lize Takoudes.
Allison Whittemore returns for her fourth season as head coach of the Mules and will look to expand off their seven win season in 2024 (most since 2019).
"This pre-season has been a strong start for us," said Whittemore. "We welcomed seven first-year

student-athletes who've already brought great energy and potential to the team. We also had the opportunity to go on a team bonding trip to Colby's Allen Island, which was a great chance to connect off the field and build chemistry that's already showing in our play. Our first official game is a home matchup against Bowdoin — a team we saw in a pre-season scrimmage where we only lost by one goal, despite rotating every five minutes to maximize learning and development across the roster. The focus now is on building consistency and continuing to grow together every day."
Whittemore is assisted by
Hannah Keefe who enters her third season with the Mules as well as
Abbie Charrier now in her fourth season.
Saturday's matchup will being right at noon on Bill Alfond Field here on the campus of Colby College. Fans can follow alongside the action using the
