Colby Snags OT Senior Day Win against Amherst

Waterville, Maine — Colby rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat Amherst, 3-2, in overtime Saturday at Bill Alfond Field.

After trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Mules steadily worked their way back into the game, scoring once in the third quarter and again in the fourth to force overtime. Colby then completed the comeback with the decisive goal in the extra period following a penalty stroke save by goalkeeper Ginna Jacoby.

Bridget Everett sparked the rally, scoring twice, including the game-winner in overtime. Christina Sweeney assisted on both of Colby's regulation goals, helping the Mules erase the deficit. Abby Morrill also scored for Colby in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.

The Mules faced a significant challenge defensively, as Amherst outshot Colby and held a 19-5 advantage in penalty corners. Jacoby made 24 saves to keep Colby within reach as the Mules mounted their comeback.

The victory improved Colby's record to 7-5 overall and 2-5 in NESCAC play, while Amherst fell to 7-5 overall and 2-5 in conference action.

Colby continues their weekend tomorrow October 18th, travelling to Bowdoin College for another NESCAC matchup.
