Men's Tennis Falls to #28 Wesleyan

Box Score

Middletown, Ct - Following a win against the Bantams a day prior, the Colby Men's Tennis team looked to make it back-to-back NESCAC wins on the road.

The Cardinals struck first, taking the doubles point from the Mules 6-3 at the #1 position, 6-1 at the #2 position, and 6-3 at the #3 position.

After nearly two hours of play, the first singles match finally concluded, with Wesleyan winning at the #4 position 6-1, 7-5 in a back-and-forth second set. Wesleyan then won at the #3 position in straight sets, and the Cardinals were one point away from securing the dual match.

Building on his amazing start to the season, first-year Jason Daly was determined to take down his Wesleyan opponent. Displaying excellent rally tolerance and great feel at the net, Daly was victorious at the #2 position 6-3, 7-6(5). Daly is now 5-0 in dual play in singles to start his Colby career. In a nearly two and a half hour match, senior captain Jake Cohen lost a tight battle to his Wesleyan opponent 6-4, 7-5 at the #1 spot. Senior captain Josh Kaplan also lost a close match, but not without a fight. After losing the first set, Kaplan came back strong in the second set. Ultimately, he lost 6-3, 4-6, 1-0(0) at the #5 spot.

At the end of the weekend, Colby goes home splitting a pair of NESCAC matches. The Mules will be back in action this Friday, March 14th, hosting Saint Michael's College at 3 pm.
