Seven Track Records Broken at Division III New England Championships

Boston, Mass. – Colby athletes, along with other Division III track and field competitors, gathered in Boston for the 2025 New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. Both the men's and women's teams placed seventh, and a total of seven school indoor track records were broken this weekend.

For the men's team, the 200m record was broken twice by Ian Irwin and Peter Martel. Irwin finished second with a time of 21.58 seconds, while Martel placed fifth with a time of 21.70 seconds. In the 400m dash, Ren Zanze took second place with a time of 48.09 seconds, followed by Levi Biery in eighth place with a time of 48.62 seconds. Sam Graubart broke the school 600m record, finishing in 1:21.28 and taking eighth place. Henry Riechle finished fourth in the 1000m with a time of 2:29.25. In the Men's 4x400m relay, Peter Martel, Sam Graubart, Levi Biery, and Ren Zanze broke both the school and the previous New England Division III record set by MIT, winning first place with a time of 3:14.26.

In pole vault, Logan Lehnert placed fifth, clearing 4.59m, while Wyatt Patterson and Lexington Lehnert tied for eighth with clearances of 4.44m. Myles Thornton-Sherman placed sixth in the Heptathlon with a score of 4449 points.

For the women's team, Simone Waheed set a new school record in the 60m dash with a time of 7.72 seconds, earning second place. In the 200m dash, Fiona Mejico broke the school record with a time of 24.69 seconds, finishing third, while Simone Waheed placed tenth with a time of 25.05 seconds, the second-fastest time in Colby history. In the 400m dash, Kaitlyn Ewald took third place with a time of 56.70 seconds, the third-fastest time in school history, while Tally Zeller placed eighth with a time of 58.21 seconds. Kristina Pizzi set a new school record in the 600m, finishing third with a time of 1:34.97, while Michelle Barnes took fifth place with a time of 1:37.44. In the Women's 4x200m relay, Tally Zeller, Charlotte Brake-Hoffman, Fiona Mejico, and Simone Waheed broke the school, New England, and National Division III records with a time of 1:40.07, taking first place.

The Mules will continue their outstanding performances on March 7th at the AARTFC Championships at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.
