Mules Cap Bates Carnival with Defor in 6th

Rumford, Maine - The Colby Nordic Ski team closed out the opening EISA Carnival series with Saturday's Freestyle event. The men's team matched their 6th place finish from a day ago while the women's team placed 7th in the 11-team race.  Combining the Alpine portions, Colby Skiing finished 5th for the weekend behind three Division I programs (Dartmouth, UVM, UNH) and a lone Division III school (Middlebury).

Andrew Defor was one spot off a career-best, finishing the seven laps in 6th place to lead all Colby finishers on the weekend.  Taiga Moore followed up his top-20 finish a day ago (19th) earning valuable NCAA qualifying points in 30th.  Benjamin Lewis crossed the line as the third scorer in 33rd position.

On the women's side, Maddie Hooker posted her second top-30 finish in as many tries leading the Mules in 26th.  Lola Villafranco and Natalie O'Brien were close behind in 34th and 36th respectively.

Colby will head to Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid next weekend for the St. Lawrence Carnival.
