Waterville, Maine - Colby senior
Jack Young was recently named to the United States World Championship Team to represent his country in Trondheim, Norway this week. Selected for his specialty, Freestyle Sprints, Young will compete in the Skate Sprint Thursday, February 27.
"We are excited that Jack has earned a spot on the World Championship Team," said Nordic Head Coach
Tracey Cote. "It's an unbelievable achievement and such a testament to all the work he's put into becoming a top level skier. Although travel for the event forced him to miss our final EISA carnival, we are thrilled he will be back to the US next week to represent Colby for the NCAA Championships at Dartmouth."
After earning World Cup starts a season ago at Canmore and Minneapolis, Young spent December and January this season racing the World Cup circuit for United States Ski and Snowboard. He collected 11 starts over those two months, with four top-30 finishes and a high mark of 12th place in Davos, Switzerland. On the EISA circuit this season, Young was able to attend six out of 12 carnival races and still qualify fourth for the NCAA Championships.
Eight other Americans join Young on the men's team to represent the US. Young is the youngest of the group.
