Waterville, Maine - The Colby Men's Lacrosse team looks to get their season started Saturday hosting the Wesleyan Cardinals for a conference matchup. The Mules topped the Cardinals 10-9 the last time they came to Waterville back in 2022.
After completing the 2023 season with a 4-10 record and losing 16 seniors to graduation, the Mules will look to improve on their record this year while adding on 13 first-years. Seven seniors will lead the team this year consisting of
Noah Brooks,
Rafa Bru,
Doug McCarthy,
Erik Niit,
Neguens Ovincy,
Max Solmssen and
Matt Suffredini. Colby returns two of its five top point scorers from a season ago in
Bennett Goller '25 (18 goals, 16 assists) and Solmssen '24 (19 goals, eight assists).
Will Rickards '25 and Suffredini '24 both return to the team who split the majority of the time in the net last season combining for 170 saves in 14 games started.
The Mules will be led by the Jack Sandler Memorial Men's Lacrosse Head Coach
Jake Bernhardt in his first season with the Mules after previously coaching at the University of Maryland and the University of Vermont. Bernhardt will be assisted by
Pape Lukk returning as the Defensive Coordinator for his second season and
Dobson Cooper in his first year as an Assistant Coach who played under Bernhardt at UVM.
