Box Score Middletown, C.T. - The Colby College Field Hockey team played Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon. The two teams played an evenly matched game, but Wesleyan took the lead in the second half and finished with a 4-2 win over the Mules. Colby now stands 3-6 in the NESCAC Conference.
Wesleyan started off the scoring in the game with an early goal halfway through the first quarter. The Mules fought back and
Bridget Everett found her seventh goal of the season off a feed from
Christina Sweeney to tie the game at the end of the quarter. The Mules and the Cardinals played back and forth and remained tied at 1-1 to end the first half. Colby came out strong to start the half, taking the lead for the first time in the game as
Christina Sweeney scored her first collegiate goal only 90 seconds into the third quarter. The Cardinals kept fighting and were able to tie the game at 2-2 shortly after the Mules goal. As the two teams continued to battle for the last quarter, Wesleyan was able to find two more goals in the third quarter and held their 4-2 lead for the remainder of the game.
Leah Anderson collected six saves in the game for the Mules.
Colby is back in action against Bates at home on Tuesday at 8 pm.
