Middletown, CT - The Colby College Men's Tennis Team fell to the Tufts Jumbos by a score of 5-1 during the NESCAC Playoff Tournament on May 6, 2022. The first NESCAC Playoff Tournament for the Mules in recent memory proved to be a test of the strength of the Mules full lineup in 4 matches. With the exciting return of
Jan Wenger and
Ben Powis to the lineup, the Mules started off with a strong fight in the doubles, with
James Bogdanovic and Wenger taking 3rd doubles to give the Mules a point. Tufts took 2nd doubles to make it 1-1.
Jake Cohen and
Joey Barrett had a battle at 1st doubles, ultimately falling 8-6 to give the Jumbos a 2-1 lead after doubles.
In the singles, Wenger was defeated at 1st singles to give the Jumbos a 3-1 lead.
Sam Henry and
Max Schuermann fell at #5 and #4 singles respectively to give the Jumbos the clinching win. All other matches were paused. Cohen was having a very high quality battle at #3 before play was stopped. Cohen had a fabulous freshman season with the Mules and looks to only improve from here on out.Â
