Waterville, ME - The Colby College Men's Tennis Team fell to the visiting Wesleyan Cardinals by a score of 6-3 on Sunday, April 24th. The doubles matches were neck and neck, with
James Bogdanovic and
Sriram Das coming up huge with a win at #3 doubles to put the Mules on the board.
Sam Henry and
Max Schuermann had a back and forth battle at #2, ultimately falling in a tiebreaker 8-7 (4) to give Wesleyan a point.
Joey Barrett and
Jake Cohen fought gamely but fell 8-6, giving Wesleyan a 2-1 lead heading into singles.
In the singles, Wesleyan got the upper hand at the #3 and #5 positions, with Wesleyan winning in straight sets on both courts. Schuermann recovered from a tough first set to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at the #4 position, giving the Mules another point on the board. Barrett fought hard in the second set but fell 6-2, 7-5 at the #1 position, handing Wesleyan the clinching win.
Sriram Das capped off his undefeated day with a third set victory at the #6 position, ending the overall score at 6-3 to the Cardinals. Das used his soft touch at net and excellent forehand to grab a close and hard fought 7-5 third set win.
