Waterville, ME - The Colby College Mules took down the Hamilton Continentals by a score of 9-0 on Saturday, April 2nd. The Mules, for the first time this season, enjoyed a 3-0 lead after the doubles ended, with
Joey Barrett and
Jake Cohen playing a practically perfect match. Cohen never missed a first serve as the #1 team garnered an 8-0 victory.
Sam Henry and
Max Schuermann also dominated at the #2 position, defeating their opponents 8-1.
Jan Wenger and
James Bogdanovic rounded out a perfect start for the Mules with an 8-4 win at the #3 position.
In the singles, the Mules were no less dominant. Barrett set the tone with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the #2 position following Henry's win at the #5 position to push Colby over the finish line to the 5 matches they needed to win. Wenger scored his first victory of the season with a clinical win at the #1 position, absorbing his opponent's power to perfection and utilizing his strong backhand to great effect. Powis was also in fine form today, as he scored a decisive win at the #6 position to push the Mules to 7-0. Schuermann and Cohen brought the Mules to 9-0 with straight-set singles wins at the #4 and #3 positions respectively.
