Waterville, MAINE - On January 29th, the Colby Mules faced off St. Lawrence University in a really tight match. Overall, the Mules fell short with a score of 4-5 for the men, and 1-8 on the women's side.

Alex Spafford who started off strong winning his first game, but then fell into some trouble, losing the next two games. Knowing that his opponent only needed one more game to win the overall match, Spafford came out strong and won the next two games, securing the first win of the day for the men (11-3, 9-11, 10-12, 11-7, 11-9). Another highlight is #7
Rintaro Yamamoto who played a back and forth battle with his opponent, winning the second and fourth game. With the score in games being 2-2, Yamamoto kept his focus and strategically pulled out another win for the men (5-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-9, 11-6). Some other highlights are #2 seat
Jonathan Sosa Uranga (9-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-4) and #6 seat
Ryan Santoro (20-18, 11-9, 11-9) who pulled out the third and fourth win of the day.
On the women's side, #1 seat Andrea Lee who strategically played from start to finish and secured the only win of the day (11-4, 11-7, 13-11). Other highlights include #5 seat Sabrina Teope (7-11, 9-11, 11-9, 4-11), #6 seat Juliette Love (8-11, 11-9, 7-11, 3-11), and #7 seat MacKenzie O'Shea (5-11, 6-11, 11-9, 7-11) who all played close matches, but had just fell short in the end.
Up next, the men's team will be traveling down to Middletown, Connecticut to compete at the NESCAC championship next weekend, starting on February 4th. The following weekend the women's team will be traveling to Hamilton, New York to compete in the NESCAC championship. Look for updates on the Colby Squash Instagram.
