ITA Rankings: Women's Tennis #22, Men's Tennis #30

Levitz 2020-21WATERVILLE, Maine - The Oracle/ITA (International Tennis Association) released its end of year national rankings and Colby found its Men's and Women's Tennis teams in the midst of the action.  The women's team ranked #22 while the men cracked the top-30 (30th).  The Oracle/ITA rankings place the top 40 teams.

The women's team found a surge in the standings during the 2021 season after going unranked in 2020.  Junior Carly Levitz (left) led the charge, earning NCAA Division III All-American by advancing to the round of 16 in the championship event.  Receiving her first All-NESCAC honor in May, Levitz is ranked 23rd in the country and 7th in the Northeast Region for Singles.  As a team, the Mules rank 8th in the Northeast Region.

"The women had an awesome year and I'm really happy they received this recognition," said head coach Adam Reeb.  "Finishing the year in the top 25 is an incredible achievement!  The ladies achieved so much in a year with so much uncertainty and I couldn't be prouder of them."

Barrett 2020-21In the final ranking of 2020, the men's team slid into the top-40 at 37th led by All-American Scott Altmeyer '20.  With Altmeyer's departure, the Mules reloaded with top first-year Joey Barrett (right), sophomore Jan Wenger, and senior Sumukh Pathi on their way to ranking #30 by Oracle/ITA.  All three Mules earned All-NESCAC recognition on the first or second team in either singles, doubles, or both as Wenger and Barrett made the all-conference team as individuals as well as a doubles pair.  The Mules are ranked 7th in the Northeast Region, with Wenger sitting in the 9th spot for Singles, Barrett in the 21st, and the duo teaming for 8th in Doubles.

"The men had a great year and I'm really proud they received this recognition of the season they had," continued Reeb.  "It was a hard year needing to constantly adjust and stay prepared, but they stayed together and focused and made the most of the opportunities they had."
