Waterville, MAINE - Throughout the Second Semester, Colby Athletics will be running a series on our outdoor venues. Each field/stadium/venue offers a multitude of specific advantages to maximize the capacity of our varsity programs, and its time for you to get to know them.
VOLUME 2 - Alfond Track (Men's and Women's Track & Field)
The Alfond Track, home to Colby's Men's and Women's Track & Field teams, provides the Mules with one of the top collegiate track and field facilities in New England. The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track Championships were held here in 1992. That year, six-time All-American Michelle Severance '94 placed 6th in the 3000-Meter Run.
The 400-meter Benyon BSS 1000 Performance series surface hosted the New England Division III Championships in 2013 and the NESCAC Championships in 2014. Stadium lighting allows for evening practices and meets, and the Seaverns Field synthetic turf field is also used by the football and lacrosse programs for games and practices.

The facility features dual shot put rings, two dual directional horizontal jump runways with four pits for long jump and triple jump, and a hammer and discus cage to host competition for the nation's premier throwers. Scoreboards and timing equipment meet all modern standards, including a video board at the south end.
"The Alfond Track and Harold Alfond Stadium have seen a lot over the years. From the special moment in 1992 when our own Michelle Severance '94 won one of her six All-American awards on home turf, to being the training location for three-time National Hammer Champion Jamie Brewster '00, the Mules have always had one of the best facilities to train and perform." - David Cusano, Head Men's and Women's Track & Field Coach
Harold Alfond Stadium was dedicated in 2008 with special attention to landscaping features. Each turn of the track is protected with five-foot berms and plantings that provide a stadium effect. Capacity: 2,000.
