Box Score Waterville, Maine – The Colby College Women's Basketball team cruised to a win against cross town rival, Thomas College, with a 79-41 victory.
The Thomas College Terriers were able to score the first points of the game after an Addie Brinkman (13 points) layup with 8:32 to go in the first quarter but the Mules were able to go on a 9-0 run to take back the lead. Brooke Guiffre (photo inset) went 4-4 from the field to pave the way for the Mules finishing with 8 points at the end of the first quarter and help lead Colby to a 22-3 lead.
To start the second quarter, the Terriers came out looking to close the gap. A Kaylee Ravagli (8 points) 3 point field goal with 7:10 remaining helped Thomas cut the deficit to 27-6. The solid defense of the Mules helped keep the Terriers at bay. A made three pointer by Ainsley Burns and a layup by Jane MacKerron helped bring the Mules into half with a 40-16 lead.
Colby was able to continue hitting shots to help extend their lead in the 3rd quarter as Alisha Aube pitched in 12 points and went 5-5 from the field and 2-2 from three to give the Mules a 60-27 lead going into the fourth quarter. It was much of the same in the final quarter as the Mules used a balanced scoring attack to close out the Terriers with Burns and Guiffre each doing their part to help bring home a 79-41 win.
Four Colby players finished in double figures. Keagan Dunbar of the Mules led all scorers with 15 points and shot 50% from the field. Aube added 14 points, while Burns pitched in 11. Guiffre ended with 14 points and is currently second in the NESCAC in 3 point field goal percentage at 52.9%.
The Mules next game will be Tuesday, December 3 at Bates College in their first NESCAC game of the season. Tip off is set for 7:00pm.
