Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Basketball team fell to the Cardinals of Wesleyan University 66-57 in their Senior Day as the last game of the regular season. The Mules are 13-11 and 3-7 in the NESCAC and the Cardinals are 7-15 and 2-8 in the conference.
Colby started off on the slower end, but made sure to pick up their scoring game. Points were led today by Lydia Mordarski dropping an impressive 16 closely followed by Amelia Hanscom with 12. The Mules spent a lot of time in the paint today scoring 24 points and the bench exploded on the court contributing 24 points. Colby's strongest showing was in the second quarter with 17 and going 75% on three pointers outscoring the Cardinals by two. On the opposite side of the court, the Mules were quick with their hands out-rebounding the opponent with 34 of their own. Hanscom was not letting another hand touch the ball after a shot and grabbed 11 rebounds which was the most out of either team.
Lauren Cho was on it tonight with two steals, seven points, and two assists. Assists were led by Mordarski with three and Hanscom, Chelsea Ibenegbu, and Defne Pekinbas all added one. The Mules were not giving Wesleyan an easy lane to net with four blocks on the day. Hanscom, Ibenegbu, Talia Thompson, and Ana Von Rumohr all contributed one. Unfortunately Colby was not able to come back from their deficit and dropped to the Cardinals for their last regular season game.
Special thank you to all of the Colby Women's Basketball seniors for their continued support and dedication to the program. Lydia Mordarski, Lauren Cho, Chelsea Ibenegbu, and Lili Nagy have had positive impacts on the program and are sure to continue so in the future.
