LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Despite missing Friday's opener due to injury, Colby College's Mardi Haskell put on the skis Saturday and finished sixth in the slalom at the St. Lawrence Carnival at Whiteface Mountain.
Haskell had runs of 51.65 and 49.23 for a two-run total time of 1:40.88. Her second run was the fourth overall. Haskell helped the women's team finish fourth with 79 points.
"Mardi has been dealing with an injury for the past three weeks, with a low point only a few days ago," Colby head coach Danny Noyes said. "Stepping in today even though she wasn't feeling her best helped the women finish fourth instead of ninth."
Mule first-year
Sandra Schoepke had a top-20 finish by taking 17th with a two-run total time of 1:44.58.
Ryanne Daley was 26th in 1:47.52.
Max Richard (pictured) earned a top-20 finish by taking 18th place in 1:32.63 in his two runs. The men's team placed seventh overall.
