Women's Crew Shows Grit in Thrilling CBB Matchup

Greene, Maine - On Sunday, #9 Colby faced perennial Maine rivals #4 Bates and Bowdoin, and raced for the 28th President's Cup. Sun, clear skies, and light wind made for some great racing conditions. The athletes, friends, families, and alumni brought the energy. In a thrilling CBB match up, with guest team UMaine, the Colby women beat UMaine, beat Bowdoin in 3 of 4 races, and fell to Bates in all four. After the racing, Head Coach Stew Stokes said that "CWC showed tremendous tenacity and poise against tough opponents in Bates and Bowdoin. Our varsity and second varsity both went stroke for stroke with the #4 ranked Bates crews and forced them to earn their win… hats off to them. We're proud of the progress and speed CWC is continuing to build week to week and as we approach our championship races." The President's Cup, scored for Men's and Women's performances, remains in Bates's hands but the team finished regular season racing today on a high.
