Hanover, NH - The final day of this year's Dartmouth Carnival was a 15k skate mass start on another chilly day of racing on Saturday. Unfortunately, more sickness was impacting both the men's and women's teams.
The women were led by
Lola Villafranco who was able to overtake a few skiers in each of the last three laps finishing in 26th overall.
Natalie O'Brien and
Lydia Kraker finished in 34th and 39th, respectively. Both had very even splits over the course of the 5 lap race.Â
The men were led by
James Underwood in 16th,
Ellis Slover in 30th, and
Bridger Stiles in 36th. James was off to a very hot start early, skiing with the lead pack for the first three laps of the race. Ellis's 30th place finish Saturday was one spot better than he was able to finish the day before, and Bridger's result is his best performance of the season to date. Also,
Simon Goldstein had his career best result today finishing in 51st, nearly 10 places better than his previous best at Colby the week prior.
Next weekend the Nordic teams look to rebound from sickness as they travel to Craftsbury, VT for the UVM Carnival where they will compete in a classic sprint, as well as a skate 10k individual start.
