Williamstown, Mass. – Colby College Track & Field wrapped up another strong weekend of racing at the F.I.R.E. Meet hosted by Williams College on May 9–10.
On the women's side, sophomore
Simone Waheed led the sprinters with a second-place finish in the 100 Meter Dash, clocking 11.97 after a 12.07 in prelims.
Kaitlyn Ewald continued her consistency in the 200 and 400 Meters, running 25.37 and 57.81, respectively.
Olivia Doherty placed fourth in the 400m with a time of 57.04.
Colby controlled the 400 Meter Hurdles, where senior
Fiona Mejico took the win in 59.48.
Sarah Lenox competed in the 100 Hurdles (18.94) and tied for the win in the high jump, while
Ariel Estime placed 11th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.56m.
Distance efforts included Maddie Bush running 4:50.72 in the 1500, and
Abbey Wolfe finishing the 5000 in 18:51.51. In the 10,000,
Claire Beebe placed 7th in 36:51.16. The 4x100 Relay of Zeller, Mejico, Waheed, and Brake-Hoffman ran 46.43 for the win.
On the men's side, freshman
Ian Irwin sprinted to a 3rd-place finish in the 100 Meter Final in 10.74 after running 10.75 in prelims. In the 400, sophomore Sam Graubart (49.81) and junior
Jackson Coelho (49.83) posted nearly identical times, placing 10th and 11th overall. In the 1500,
Henry Reichle led with a 10th-place 3:53.84, followed by
Thomas Speltz in 3:59.04.
Brady Clegg and Greyson Gavin represented in the 3000m Steeplechase, with Clegg finishing 4th in 9:21.26.
The men's 4x400 Relay team of Coelho, Martel, Biery, and Zanze dominated their heat, finishing first overall in 3:12.15. In the hurdles,
Levi Biery ran 51.79 in the 400H to place 4th, and
Patrick Kuprewicz posted 15.56 in the 110H prelims.
In the field, Colby's pole vault squad once again delivered.
Peter Martel and
Lexington Lehnert each cleared 4.69m to tie for 4th.
Logan Lehnert cleared 4.54m and
Wyatt Patterson 4.39m to round out another strong team vault performance.
Ernest Obiorah threw 40.10m in the discus, and
Myles Thornton-Sherman finished the decathlon with 2257 points.
The Mules will later head to the AARTFC Championships starting on Wednesday, May 14 at Williamstown, Mass.
