Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Field Hockey team returns four leading goal scorers in: Pernilla Shaw, Casey Winslow, Catherine McNulty, and Molly Mitchell. They add nine first-years to the mix as they seek to return to the NESCAC tournament for the first since 2019. The group is young and talented and carrying plenty of excitement into the new season.

Senior Captain Casey Winslow said of the team, "This group has so much potential, and we are ecstatic to show what we've got." She added that the team has embraced a strong work ethic, "working hard on the field with double sessions during preseason and bonding together as a group." The team will look to blend youth and experience into success in Allison Whittemore's third season as head coach.

The Mules are set to begin their season next Saturday on the road at Bowdoin. They will open with a NESCAC opponent for the second consecutive season, facing the Polar Bears again in the opener. Bowdoin finished sixth last season in NESCAC play and has won 18 straight games against Colby, a streak the Mules will look to upend.

The NESCAC is a perennial powerhouse in field hockey, with four teams qualifying for the NCAA tournament last season. Middlebury is a six-time consecutive defending champion. The Mules will face off against all ten NESCAC teams, concluding with rivals Bates, who the Mules narrowly lost to last season in an overtime thriller. They also add competitions against the University of New England, Thomas, Husson, the University of Southern Maine, and Endicott, the former of which the Mules shocked last season on the road.
