Waterville, Maine - Colby College Women's Track and Field hosted their first meet of the season, competing against Saint Joseph's College of Maine, Thomas College, and the University of Maine at Farmington. The Mules dominated the event, earning a total score of 160 points to secure a first-place finish and a strong start to the season.
The Mules claimed victory in eight of the sixteen events, including a sweep of the top three spots in both the Women's 200 Meters and 400 Meters. Simone Waheed led the way, securing first place in both the 60 Meters and 200 Meters, finished in 7.77 seconds and 25.86 seconds. Colby also triumphed in the 4x400 Relay, with Kristina Pizzi, Quinn Cushing, Marielle Goganian, and Charlotte Brake-Hoffman combining for a winning time of 4:11.98.
In the field events, Gabriella Bresnick excelled in the Pole Vault, clearing 2.80 meters to take first place. Kaitlyn Ewald added another win for Colby in the Long Jump, achieving a distance of 4.98 meters.
While hosting the home meet in Waterville, Maddie Bush competed in Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday. The sophomore raced in the one mile run placing 42nd respectively (5:32.19).Â
The Mules looks ahead to the new year with their next competition scheduled for January 17th, when they will participate in the Bates Invitational in Lewiston, Maine.
