Waterville, Maine - The Colby Nordic Ski team closed out the Colby Carnival Saturday with another extraordinary day on the trails, competing in the 20k Classic. The men's team placed fourth in the field of 11 teams while the women's team posted their best finish of the season in 5th.
Gretta Scholz led the Mules on the women's side for the fourth consecutive race. After posting two 10th place finishes last weekend, her 13th in Saturday's Classic (following her 14th place from a day ago) now makes it four straight races to start the season in the top-14. Senior

Maddie Hooker were hot on her heels in 18th and 19th respectively.
Lili Baer jumped into the top-30 to place 29th and earn points towards NCAA qualifying standings.
Zach Nemeth followed up last week's 9th place finish in the UVM Carnival Freestyle with a 6th place finish Saturday. Nemeth competed near the front of the chase group for the duration of the 54-minute race, emerging at the end to take down skiers from Middlebury, UNH, and Bowdoin.
Jack Young earned his third top-10 result of the year placing 10th.
Benjamin Lewis scored for Colby for the second consecutive day, finishing 19th.
Andrew Defor (25th) and
Matous Matousek (29th) earned NCAA qualifying points with top-30 finishes.
With a break in the schedule the Mules will be back in action in two weeks for the Harvard Carnival February 2-3.
