Nordic Skiing

Young 4th, Colby Lands Three in Top-10

Craftsbury, Vt. - The Colby Nordic Ski team capped the second day of racing at the UVM Carnival with three skiers in the top-10 and five in the top-14.  The men's team followed up Friday's 3rd place performance with another bronze medal Saturday only a single place point out of second, while the women's team leapt up a spot from yesterday to finish 6th.

Jack Young was Colby's top performer, narrowly missing the podium in fourth place just three tenths of a second off the winner.  Zach Nemeth and first-year Andrew Defor rounded out Colby's scoring on the men's side placing 9th and 14th respectively.  Victor Sparks (20th) and first-year Benjamin Lewis (26th) worked into the top-30 to earn NCAA qualifying points.  On the women's side Gretta Scholz matched yesterday's 10th place finish with another 10th.  First-year Maddie Hooker (headline photo) was close behind in 14th and Isabel Seay finished the 10k skate in 23rd.

Colby returns home next weekend for the Colby Carnival.
