information. The tournament was originally set to take place this past January in Sweden, but was postponed and relocated due to COVID-19.
Tyng had the opportunity to work as camp coach with the U18 team in August 2021 during the Women's National Festival. Team USA used that event to select their team for this summer's championship.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the USA U18 Team in this scouting position and to learn from the staff," Tyng said. "These players are so talented and some will, hopefully, be competing in the Olympic Games down the line. I'll be tasked to scout our opponents during practices and games, both from an individual and team perspective and assist our coaching staff in preparing the team for competitions," she added. The Mules' head coach has also previously worked for USA Hockey as a skills coach, on-ice director, and U18 Camp Evaluator.
Tyng arrived at Colby in October 2016. During the 2019-2020 season Tyng was named NESCAC Coach of the Year. Most recently, she helped guide the Mules to their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance and second consecutive NESCAC Semifinal. Colby finished the 2021-2022 season ranked 2nd in the conference with a 16-6-1 record. 16 wins marked a program best in a single season.
