Women’s Hockey Advance to NESCAC Semifinals

Waterville, Maine - The No. 4 seeded Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team faced the No. 5 seeded Hamilton College in the NESCAC Championship Quarterfinals. The Mules entered postseason play with high energy and strong execution, earning a 6-2 victory to advance to the semifinals next weekend.

Colby came out with intensity, firing 27 shots, winning 19 of 26 faceoffs, and holding Hamilton scoreless through the opening period. Goaltender Ally Martiniello made four saves in the first period to keep the Continentals off the board. At 11:02, Allie Corrieri opened the scoring for the Mules, assisted by Cailyn Murphy and Beth Sinson. Colby then capitalized on a power play at 17:28, when Molly Lefebvre netted a goal off a pass from Corrieri, giving the Mules a 2-0 lead heading into the second period. The Mules continued to build momentum early in the second period. At 5:43, Sophie Melsness scored on an assist from Jo Tattersall, and less than a minute later, at 6:32, Emily Olsthoorn extended the lead to 4-0 with an assist from Kate Pura. Hamilton broke through late in the period at 18:39, but Colby remained in control, recording 21 shots, winning 11 of 19 faceoffs, earning a power-play opportunity, and four more saves from Martiniello. Entering the third period with a 4-1 advantage, Colby stayed aggressive. During a power play at 8:05, Courtney Schumacher made it 5-1 for the Mules. Later, at 14:29, Sophia Kennedy added an empty-net goal while Hamilton had pulled its goalie, pushing the lead to 6-1. Hamilton added a late goal at 17:20, but the Mules closed out the game securing the 6-2 victory. Colby finished with 70 total shots, while Martiniello made 21 saves. Addie Paskowski led the team with 10 shots, Sinson recorded two assists, and all six goals were scored by different players.

The Mules will advance to the NESCAC semifinals next weekend which will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
