Clinton, N.Y. - The Colby Track and Field teams traveled to Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. for the NESCAC Championships this past weekend. Despite some illness that necessitated a limited travel roster, strong individual performances on both sides carried the Mules to an tenth place women's finish and a eighth place men's finish.
The top performer on the women's side was
Sharde Johnson, who placed 2nd in the High Jump to earn All-NESCAC honors. Other strong performances came from
Fiona Mejico, who finished 4th in the 400m Hurdles,
Isabel Llach, who placed 5th in the High Jump,
Erin Daugherty, who finished 7th in the 100m Hurdles and
Mary Calvert, who placed 8th in the Pole Vault. All scored meet points to lead the Mules to a final score of 20 points and a 10th place finish.

For the men,
Tanner Burton turned in the individual performance of the day, winning the 110m Hurdles to claim the NESCAC title and setting a school record, facility record and a NESCAC meet record in the process with a time of 14.46 seconds; the performance also earned Burton All-NESCAC honors. Additionally, Burton teamed up with
Ren Zanze,
Peter Martel and
Matt Long to win the 4x100m relay for Colby's second NESCAC victory and another All-NESCAC performance. Zanze earned the Mule's final All-NESCAC recognition with his 2nd place in the 400m, and additionally placed 6th in the 200m. Other highlights included
Peter Martel's 4th place finish in the Pole Vault,
Jeyis Gomez's 6th place finish in the High Jump and a 4th place finish in the 4x400m relay by the team of
John Silberman,
Matt Long,
JT Munz and
Ren Zanze. The men combined for 43.5 points and an 8th place finish as a team.
