Wilcox Hits Two Homeruns as Mules Defeat UMF in Doubleheader

Waterville, Maine- The Colby Softball Team played against the University of Maine Farmington in a doubleheader at the Softball Complex on the campus of Colby College. The Mules would end up winning both games of the beavers with scores of 6-0 and 11-0.
 
In game one, Sam Ahlholm started for the Mules, pitching a complete game of 7.0 innings, allowing three hits, and striking out seven batters. Colby jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning with Logan Luebbe hitting a flyball to center field, bringing in senior Ashley Ketchum. Colby added onto their lead in the third inning, Luebbe adding another RBI in the game and Colleen McAvoy hitting a sacrifice fly to center field. Amanda Cabral made it a 5-0 game in the fourth inning hitting an RBI double to score Chloe Wilcox and Laura Powell. Luebbe would hit her third RBI of the game, a single, to bring the Mules to a 6-0 lead over the Beavers to win game one. 
 
In game two, the Mules would score eleven runs through four innings, to end the game after the top of the fifth inning. The Mules once again jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning with Amanda Cabral grounding out to bring in Chloe Wilcox for a 1-0 lead. Chloe Wilcox hit two home runs in the game, the first being a solo homerun in the second inning, and a two-run homerun in the fourth inning to help bring the Mules to an 8-0 lead. Colby scored a total of nine runs in the fourth inning, to help give the Mules the win in five innings. Chloe Wilcox and Liv Menyo both had three RBIs in the game. Abby Orso pitched the full game for the Mules, allowing only one hit, no runs, and striking out twelve batters. 
 
The Mules play again this Saturday, April 9, for a doubleheader against Bates College, the Mules' first NESCAC matchup of the season. Games are slated to start at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM at the Softball Complex on the campus of Colby College.
