Box Score 2 Waterville, Maine- Colby Softball had their first NESCAC matchup of the season against Bates College Saturday. The Mules came into conference play with an 11-8 record on the season. Colby took both games from the Bobcats, winning game one 9-3 and the second 10-3.

Sam Ahlholm started game one, pitching 5.0 innings, and earning the win. Bates got an early 2-0 lead over the Mules, who easily answered in their first at-bats of the day.
Logan Luebbe hit an RBI triple to bring two Mules home and tie the game and was followed by an RBI from
Amanda Cabral and an RBI double from
Payton Crowley, giving the Mules a 4-2 lead. The Mules added another run in the second inning when
Lauren Ilano scored on a wild pitch.
Colleen McAvoy hit a two-run single in the fifth giving the Mules a 7-3 lead.
Abby Orso would take over to pitch the final two innings of the game, striking out three of the six batters faced. The Mules scored their final two runs of the game in the sixth inning as
Liv Menyo scored on a wild pitch and
Logan Luebbe scoring after
Katelyn Hays was walked with the bases loaded.
Abby Orso earned her second save of the season with the Mules' game one win.

The Mules started game two with
Abby Orso pitching a complete game striking out seven and only allowing three runs. Colby got an early lead against the Bobcats scoring two runs that came from two RBI singles,
Amanda Cabral and
Lauren Ilano. The Mules scored six runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a grand slam from
Chloe Wilcox. Through four innings, the Mules were up 8-2 over the Bobcats.
Chloe Wilcox added another run for the Mules in the fifth with an RBI single, and
Jackie Hill hit her first home run of the season in the sixth inning to give the Mules a 10-3 win. Orso's pitching record would improve to 6-2 on the season.

The Mules are back in action tomorrow morning at 11 AM in Lewiston, Maine to face Bates College once again.
