Waterville, Maine- The Colby Softball Team returned to their home field today to play the University of New England in a doubleheader. The Mules are coming off a strong showing down in Florida and looked for a strong showing against the Nor'Easters.

In game one for the Mules,
Payton Crowley pitched a complete 7.0 inning game. Colby got an early 1-0 lead with an RBI double by
Logan Luebbe in the first inning. The Nor'Easters were able to match that run in the second inning but would struggle against Crowley's pitching. The Mules continued to score, scoring eight more runs in three innings, to take a 9-1 lead. In the third inning,
Amanda Cabral hit a two-run homerun, and
Payton Crowley would also hit a homerun with two outs in the inning.
Payton Crowley also had a strong performance on the mound today, striking out five batters, and having one earned run in her complete game performance, The Mules would go on to win game one with a score of 9-3.

In game two,
Sam Ahlholm started for the Mules, who continued their strong offensive performance. Heading into the first inning down three runs, the Mules fought back, scoring three runs of their own.
Amanda Cabral,
Grace Gouin, and
Colleen McAvoy all had RBIs this inning to tie to the game for the Mules. Ahlholm pitched 5.0 innings, striking out three batters, before handing the game over to
Abby Orso, who would earn the save for the Mules in a 2.0 innings pitched in relief, striking out five. The Mules took the lead in the third inning when
Erika Macleod hit an RBI double to give the Mules a 5-3 lead.
Chloe Wilcox extended the lead for the Mules in the sixth inning, hitting an RBI single to score
Jackie Hill, giving the Mules a 6-3 lead and win over the Nor'Easters.

The Mules play again this Saturday, April 2, in Waterville, Maine against Husson University in a double-header, with games slated to start at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
