Box Score Pasadena, CA - The Colby College Women's Tennis Team scored a huge win over #22 CalTech on FrIday, March 25th. The win marks the end of a successful spring break campaign for the Mules, who defeated Occidental and Caltech, but lost against Redlands and Chapman. With the team looking to get revenge from the previous day's loss and the return of Sam Riordan to the lineup, the Mules were confident heading into the match.

In the doubles, the Mules went up 2-1 with clinical performances from Carly Levitz and Lindsey Hernandez at the #1 position and the Sophomore duo of Sydney Landau and Sam Riordan at the #2 position. In the singles, Levitz earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the #1 position, pushing the Mules up to 3-1 in the overall score. The Mules then earned another point on Landau's court, as a player retirement pushed the Mules up to one match away from a win. However, the tables turned as Hernandez fell in a fight at the #4 position and a marathon match on court #6 resulted in a loss for Katharine Dougherty. With the match tied at 4-4, it came down to Caroline Kittle at the #5 position. Using her slice backhand to great effect, Kittle, after her opponent saved 5 match points, squeezed out a 6-4 third set victory to clinch the match for the Mules. With this win, the Mules defeated a team that is ranked 10 spots higher than them in the rankings, marking an amazing conclusion to what was a very strong performance in the California heat this past week.

"I want to thank the team for supporting me through that match," said Kittle. "I could not have done it without them! That was a very good week for the team and we look forward to improving and playing matches in a week."
