Waltham, MA - The Colby Women's Tennis Team traveled to face #23 Brandeis University this past Sunday.

The Mules opened the match with hard-fought doubles matches. At the #1 position, Isabella Suk and Ella Novion fell 6-2, giving the Judges an early edge. At #3 doubles, Amelie Gal and Soumya Wijesekera found themselves down 2-5 but had an impressive comeback, winning five straight games to secure a 7-5 victory. The doubles point ultimately came down to the #2 pair of Jade Finestone and Kat Lowy, who battled in a tight set that was decided in a tiebreaker, falling 6-7 (5). With that, Brandeis secured the doubles point and took a 1-0 lead.

Colby Women's Tennis regrouped and returned to the court for the first round of singles. The Mules dropped matches at the #1 and #6 positions, putting Brandeis close to clinching the match. At #2 singles, sophomore Ella Novion kept Colby in the match after battling to win the second set, but ultimately fell 1-6, 7-6(2), 0-6, allowing the Judges to clinch the match. Freshman Tina Barrow competed hard at #5 but lost 1-6, 4-6.
