Waterville, Maine - The Mules hosted the Maine State Meet and defended Mayflower Hill from other Division 3 Schools in the state. This meet had not been hosted in two years, and all teams had high energy going into the meet.
Colby's Women's team had not won the Maine State Meet in 20 years, but narrowly took this one with 200.5 points. They beat fellow NESCAC schools Bates (197), and Bowdoin (184.5). Event winners include
Lottie Franck in the 400 (1:00.09),
Sharde Johnson in the high jump (1.67m), the 4x200 which included Katie Roy,
Charlotte Freniere,
Fiona Mejico, and
Kristina Pizzi (1:46.27) and the 4x400 which included Katie Roy, Franck, Mejico, and
Olivia Tomlin (4:08.39). Other strong performances came from
Annah Rossvall in the 400 (61.57) and 200 (27.00), Pizzi in the 800 (2:26.29),
Christina Speliakos in the 60m hurdles (9.23) and the triple jump (11.35m), Isabelle Llach in the high jump (1.61m),
Mary Calvert in the pole vault (3.10m), and the 4x800 team including
Margo Kenyon,
Claire Beebe,
Meredith Griffin, and Alene Fernendes (10:15.32).
The men's team came in 3rd with a score of 117.5. They finished behind Bowdoin (180.5), and Bates (240.5). Event winners on the men's side include
Tyler Morris in the 3k (8:34.43),
Tanner Burton in the 60 hurdles (8.45), and the 4x400 team including Burton,
Ren Zanze,
Peter Martel, and
Raghav Kadambi (3:28.35). Other strong performances include 2nd place finishes from Zanze in the 400 (50.77),
JT Munz in the 600 (1:24.31),
Tyler Morris in the mile (4:20.79), and the 4x800 team including
Nick Peterson,
TJ Collins,
Gordon Doore, and Munz (8:15.68), and
Peter Martel in the pole vault (4.45m).
The Mules turn their attention to Boston University's Valentine's Invitational meet and also the University of Maine's Invitational where people look to improve their marks this season.
