Waterville, Maine- The Colby College Women's Track and Field Team hosted the Elm City Challenge against the Thomas College Terriers and the University of Maine at Farmington Beavers. The Mules bested both teams to come in first place with the Beavers coming in second place and the Terriers coming in third place to round out the first meet of the season.
Colby finished the meet with 141 points while the University of Maine at Farmington finished with 78 points and Thomas with 60. The Mules won 11 out of their 15 events. Freshman
Alayna Blier earned the first win of her collegiate career in the Women's 60 Meters. Several other freshmen were also able to get victories such as
Tally Zeller in the Women's 200 Meters,
Anna Mackey in the Women's 600 Meters, and
Abby Steffler in the Women's Mile.
Fiona Mejico took the victory in the Women's 400 Meters and
Claire Beebe in the Women's 5000 meters.
Margo Kenyon made a huge recovery to overcome a deficit and secure the victory in the Women's 3000 meters.The Mules also took first and second in the Women's 4x400 relay. Colby also dominated the field events with
Isabel Llach reaching the 1.56m mark for the win,
Mary Calvert also won the Women's Pole Vault while
Kassie Brink finished out the field events with a win in the Triple Jump.Â
On January 14th Colby College Women's Track and Field will travel to Brunswick, Maine to compete in the Bowdoin Invitational.Â
