Women's Swim and Dive Tight Meet with Panthers

Middlebury, Vermont- The Colby Mules took a trip up to Vermont where they competed against the Middlebury Panthers, with both Mens and Womens teams having a strong showing and the final scores being incredibly close. Colby's Men's team bested Middlebury by eight points (Colby-154 Middlebury-146), while the Women's team was similarly close with Middlebury coming out on top (154-140). 

 

The Mules started off strong by winning four straight individual events: Women's 1000 Freestyle-Senior Addie Paige (10:58.41), Men's 1000 Freestyle-Sophomore Anthony Minickiello (10:03.58), Women's 200 Freestyle-Sophomore Alex Mayo (2:01.11), and Men's 200 Freestyle-Fist Year Carson Rehkopf (1:45.77). Colby would go on to have 15 total individual 1st place finishes in Swimming and Diving. Senior, Addie Paige had this to say about the meet, "The all around spirit on deck was awesome today. It's great to be back competing after almost two years of Covid and going abroad. I've missed the team so much and I'm excited to see us continue to crush it!" 

 

Energy was high as the Mules Continued knocking down 1st Place finishes. The next set of wins came from Junior Captain Ann Tolan: 50 Freestyle (24.51) 100 Freestyle (53.87) and Senior Captain John Connors: 50 Freestyle (21.55). On the diving boards, Sophomore Eleanor McGrath was victorious on both the 1 meter (235.80) and 3 meter (241.73). Sophomore Sam Cahaly nabbed the top spot in both of his events as well, with a 267.53 on 1 meter and 235.28 on 3 meter. 2nd year diving, Ivan Knoepflmacher had a breakout personal best on 1 meter, nabbing a key 2nd place finish for the Mules. Sam Cahaly had this to say after the meet, "Coming off of a really intense training camp, I think the dive squad dove amazingly today. There were a lot of new dives performed today and I think we're all feeling really confident as we head into the final stretch before the NESCAC Championships!"

 

The Mules take on Bates College next weekend.
