Indianapolis, Ind. — The Colby College Women's Swimming and Diving team continued its strong performance at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday, shattering the school record in the 200-meter freestyle relay twice in a single day at the Indiana University Natatorium.
The relay squad of
Caitlin Lacey,
Lucy Mackey,
Eliza Marco, and
Zoe Buzzelli first broke the program record during the morning preliminary heats with a time of 1:33.50. Returning for the evening finals, the team found another gear, clocking in at 1:33.40 to shave an additional tenth of a second off the mark. The Mules finished 14th overall in the event, earning all four student-athletes Second Team All-American honors. Following the second day of competition, Colby currently sits in 14th place in the national team standings.
Colby is set for a busy Friday schedule with representatives competing in every scheduled event. The morning session will lead off with
Alexis Coates,
Kellen Mottl, Lacey, and Marco taking on the 200-meter medley relay. Individual action will feature
Lexi Asch in the 200-meter butterfly, followed by the duo of Coates and
Zoe Fencil in the 100-meter backstroke. Mottl will also return to the pool for the 100-meter breaststroke. The preliminary heats will conclude with Buzzelli, Mackey,
Savannah Lombardi, and
Aria Kapoor competing in the 800-meter freestyle relay.
The championship meet continues through Saturday. Preliminary heats begin daily at 10:00 a.m., with finals scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
