Box Score Waterville, MAINE – The Colby College Women's Tennis Team took on visiting Husson University on Wednesday September 22
nd. It was the Mules first team match this fall and it proved to be a strong performance from Colby's lineup. The Mules overall beat Husson 9-0, with the loss of only one single game during the #1 singles match.
Senior Co-Captains
Lindsey Hernandez and
Carly Levitz lead the charge in doubles with an 8-0 sweep. Freshmen
Reimi Kusaka and
Caroline Kittle debuted at third doubles also with an 8-0 win. Singles followed the same trend, with Kittle also slotting in at the fourth singles spot. Seniors Katherine Dougherty and
Emilia Callery were dominant as were the doubles tandem of Sophomores
Sam Riordan and
Sydney Landau.
After a strong spring season last year, the Mules are riding a strong momentum wave with this 9-0 win, especially after a strong performance versus top NESCAC teams at the Wallach Invitational this past month. The Mules have the advantage of a deeply talented roster this season, with
Carly Levitz earning All-American Status last spring, strong performances from the seniors and sophomores at the Wallach (
Katharine Dougherty led the Mules in doubles wins, Riordan beating multiple top players from Bates to name a few), and a talented new freshmen class.
The Mules next play at the ITA regional tournament at Bowdoin on October 1
