Waterville, MAINE - The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Winter All-Academic Team. Colby College landed 110 of the 1,151 spots, with 50 making the cut for the second or third time. To be honored, a student must have been enrolled full-time during the fall semester, reached sophomore academic standing, and be in good standing in their sport with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 or equivalent on a 4.0 scale. Transfers must have completed one year of study at an institution.
Students who were named for the third time:
Charlie Allen (Men's Swimming and Diving), Zachary Bergman (Men's Swimming and Diving), William Blasdell (Men's Indoor Track and Field), D'Arcy Carlson (Women's Squash), Katie Carroll (Women's Swimming and Diving), Steph Fawell (Women's Swimming and Diving), Sean Holly (Men's Ice Hockey), Kirsten Miller (Women's Nordic Skiing), Gautam Mitra (Men's Squash), Laura Polley (Women's Indoor Track and Field), Catie Riley (Women's Indoor Track and Field), Cal Waichler (Women's Nordic Skiing), Lily Wong (Women's Swimming and Diving), Mark Young (Men's Nordic Skiing).
Miller and Young also competed this winter at the NCAA Division I Skiing Championships.
Thirty-six student athletes qualified fot the All-Academic Team for the second time in their careers. Four varsity programs at Colby placed over two-thirds of their eligible members on the All-Academic Team (Women's Indoor Track and Field, Women's Squash, Women's Nordic Skiing, Women's Alpine Skiing).
