Women's Swim and Dive Competes Against UMaine Orono

Waterville, Maine - The female AquaMules competed in their inaugural meet in the new Harold Alfond Athletic and Recreation Center (HAARC) against University of Maine at Orono (UMO).  After a long season of constant traing the team brought the energy for one final push against Division I Black Bears.  The team swam fast and was able to celebrate the seniors who have dedicated so much to the program.  Stephanie Fawell, a senior diver and captain for the Mules, had nothing but praise for her team, "It was an incredibly rewarding weekend! The men did incredible yesterday, pulling out a win and raising everyone's energy, which carried into today. Having all of the senior women, including myself, achieve lifetime bests today after a difficult year made all of our hard work worth it."

Not only were the seniors successful today, but Ann Tolan led the Mules with two first place finishes and school records in the 50 Freestyle (23.84) and 100 Freestyle (52.25).  Jessica Leong also had a strong showing for the Mules, placing first in the 200 fly (2:11.86), an event that her teammates Victoria Piacentino (2:19.76) and Maddy Eippert (2:22.66) had second and third place finishes in. Leong also had a second place finish in the 100 Fly (59.86).  The women were also successful in diving today with Fawell achieving personal bests in the one meter (232.85) and three meter (234.6) her final collegiate meet.  Monet Meyer placed second in both events and scored a personal record on the three meter (242.8) and Eleanor McGrath also had a successful meet with a personal record on the one meter (231.20).

The Mules ended the meet with a first place finish in the 200 Free Relay (Tolan, Esther Han, Addie Paige, Katie Carroll; 1:38.34) and a strong appreciation for all that has been accomplished through a long and difficult year.  Tolan said of the meet, "we all swam for each other and I swam for the team today.  Our training paid off today, and I am so happy and proud of the seniors."  Despite a strong fight put up by the Mules today they lost to the Black Bears 166-133.

The Mules now get some much deserved rest and time off and will come back ready to start training for next season!
