Colby Tops Trinity, Hamilton on Day 2

Middletown, Conn. - The second day for the Mules proved to be fruitful as both the men and women came out on top against Trinity College and Hamilton College. Final scores for the Women: Colby over Trinity 165-131, and Colby over Hamilton 194.5-105.5.
Final scores for the Men: Colby over Trinity 190-108, and Colby over Hamilton 194-100.

The strong day of competition brought plenty of great performances from the Mules. The distance swimmers had a strong showing with senior Lacey Wright sweeping both the 1000 yard Freestyle (11:03.62) and the 500 yard Freestyle (5:25.87), while sophomore Anthony Minickiello followed her lead sweeping in the 1000 yard Freestyle (10:02.28) the 500 yard Freestyle (4:51.58) and being the anchor to the 800 yard freestyle (Rehkopf,Connors, Wu, Minickiello - 7:09.73).  On the other end of the scale, Mules sprint swimmers had a field day as well, with first-year Gabriella Landau winning both of her individual events 50 yard Backstroke (27.84) and 50 yard Butterfly (26.90), marking the first individual wins of her career. 'Rella' Landau had this to say about today, "I'm thrilled with the success of my second college meet. I'm so excited for what the season holds for me and my team mates!"

Other notable wins for Colby: sophomore Alex Mayo-Women's 200 yard Freestyle (1:59.99), sophomore Niels Wu-Men's 200 yard Freestyle (1:46.76), senior John Connors-Men's 50 yard Freestyle (21.53), and first-year Carson Rehkopf-Men's 100 yard Freestyle (48.34). On the boards, Eleanor McGrath earned a 1st place finish and a collegiate best score (225.8) on the 3-meter, while Monet Meyer took 1st place on the 1-meter (227.45). 

After a long weekend, Rehkopf had this to say, "The meet against Trinity and Hamilton was a great competition and an even better showcase of our skills, as our team we did a phenomenal job of swimming fast after a lot of hard work put forth in our training over the past few months."
