Mules Open the 21-22 Season in Amherst

Amherst, Mass. - Saturday marked the first official NESCAC meet for the Mules and Mammoths in over a year. Colby started off with a strong showing in the Women's 200 yard Medley Relay (Landau, Mackle, Leong, Tolan) placing second with a time of 1:50.85. Leading a strong anchor to the relay Junior Captain Ann Tolan had this to say about the meet, "It was incredible to get back into NESCAC competition and be so competitive with Amherst after months of hard training." The final scores to the meet were Women's: Amherst 212 - Colby 87, and Men's: Amherst College-188 Colby College-108.

Several of the Mules had stellar performances that led to multiple swimmers having career-best times in individual events. Leading the men's team was Junior Isaac Marlott with a first place individual finish in the 200 Butterfly (1:55.84) and a second place finish in the 100 Butterfly (52.57) the first time he has ever gone under 53.

Isaac had this to say about the meet, "The swims were good and the team atmosphere was even better." Fellow Sophomore Anthony Minickiello followed suit, winning the 1000 yard Freestyle (10:03.83) and grabbing  second place in the 500 yard Freestyle (4:49.72). Freshman Carson Rehkopf had a personal lifetime best in the 200 Freestyle (1:46.90) and a personal in-season best time in the 100 yard Freestyle (48.95) placing 3rd and 4th respectively in those events.  Colby Men's Diving had a strong showing with Sophomore Sam Cahaly continuing his undefeated streak winning both the 1-meter (246.37) and 3-meter (261.08). 

For the women's team Junior Ann Tolan following her strong relay performance took first place in the 50 yard Freestyle (24.38) and a second place in the 100 yard Freestyle (54.20).For  another in-season best for a mule Senior Lacey Wright took second place in the 1000 yard Freestyle (11:02.30). On the boards, Colby's divers put in solid performances. Sophomore Eleanor McGrath nabbed 2nd place in the 3 meter event (216.07). Junior Monet Meyer took 2nd place finish in the 1 meter (210.07).
