Colby falls to Franklin & Marshall in final seconds 51-50

Northampton, MA – The Colby College Women's Basketball team falls to the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats 51-50 in a close battle at the Smith Holiday Tournament.

GAME NOTES

  • Both teams were able to each go on scoring runs throughout the first quarter with Franklin & Marshall taking a 4 point lead into the second quarter. The Mules and Diplomats each scored 7 points in the second quarter giving Franklin & Marshall a 27-23 lead at half. Colby was able to claw their way back into the game in the second half and would eventually tie the game up at 50-50 with 13 seconds to go after a big time jump shot by Brooke Guiffre. A free throw with one second left would give the Diplomats the last second win over the Mules.   

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES

  • Grace Coutu led the way offensively for the Mules off the bench with 17 points. She hit six of the seven shot she took. She also went 5-7 from the free throw line.
  • Alisha Aube pitched in with 13 points and 7 rebounds. She would finish 5-15 from the field.
  • Ainsley Burns added five points while Guiffre had eight points.  

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE DIPLOMATS

  • Sarosha Parsons led all scorers with 18 points. She also had five rebounds and three steals.
  • Keena Williams would add nine points and Mala Lockhart and Alisyn Narracci each had seven points.

KEY STATS

  • Colby's bench outscored Franklin & Marshall 25 to 11.
  • Alisha Aube is averaging 11.8 points per game on the year while Keagan Dunbar is close behind with 9.6 points per game.

NEXT MATHUP

  • Colby will play Anna Maria on December 30 at Smith College in the Smith Holiday Tournament at 2:00 PM.
