AMHERST, Mass. -- Paige Hanssen had six kills and Molly Manuel (pictured) led in defensive digs with 13 for the Colby College volleyball team in a 3-0 loss to Amherst College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Friday night.
The Mules (2-10 overall, 0-3 NESCAC) will play at Williams College at noon Saturday. Colby plays Endicott College at 2:30 p.m. at Williams.
The Ephs won by set scores of 25-18, 25-13, 25-5.
Hanssen also had eight digs and three blocks, while Manuel dished eight assists. Karolina Serhan added four kills and two blocks, Emily Moslener had two service aces, and Erin Maidman finished with seven digs.
Amherst went ahead in the opening two sets by 7-1 scores, but the Mules showed some resolve. The Purple & White had a 21-5 lead in the first set until Colby went on a 13-3 run to cut the margin to 24-18. Colby had some nice rallies with Amherst in the second set.
