Waterville, Maine - In front of Colby's home crowd for "Fill the Stands" and "Dig Pink" night, the Colby Volleyball team put together a dominant performance Friday evening, sweeping NESCAC match-up Hamilton College 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-17) in the Margaret M. Crook Center.
With the victory, the Mules improve to 14-2 overall and 6-1 in NESCAC play. Colby executed at a high level across the court, with a collective hitting percentage of .330 with 48 total kills while defending the back row with 59 digs.
The match also served as Colby's annual "Dig Pink" initiative, uniting the community in support of The Side-Out Foundation and its mission to advance research for stage IV metastatic breast cancer. Fittingly, the Mules put together an extraordinary defensive performance, led by senior outside hitter Brady Moseley. Coming off her 1,000th career dig milestone set against Endicott, Moseley racked up 10 kills and 12 digs, scoring a hitting percentage of .381, alongside a solo block and a block assist.
Brianna Hazak served as Colby's kill leader for the evening with a match-high 11 kills, while adding three service aces and defending the back-row with 20 digs. Evelyn Kunde powered through with a hitting percentage of .450 with nine kills, and Kendall Glover was near-flawless, hitting .667 with eight kills on 12 errorless swings. Haley Beigh (three kills), Gabby Grujic (three kills), Cyanne Jones (two kills, two blocks), and Olivia Drayden (one kill, one block) also added crucial depth at the net. Libero Reese Loyd provided steady back-row coverage with 13 digs and four assists, while setters Sydney DeProfio (five digs, team-leading 17 assists) and Grujic (three digs, 16 assists) shined through with the assists.
Colby returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 17, when the Mules host NESCAC opponent Middebury at 2:00 p.m. in the Margaret M. Crook Center.
