Waterville, Maine — After a scoreless first half of the match, Colby got on the board after halftime to defeat the University of New England 3-1 Monday.
Alex Hood opened the scoring for the Mules, with Hadley Swenson providing the assist. UNE responded with a goal to tie the game, but Colby quickly regained control. Bridget Waters put the Mules back in front with an unassisted goal before Bridget Everett added another unassisted goal to extend Colby's lead to 3-1.
Colby generated 13 shots, including 10 on goal, while holding UNE to three shots and only one on goal. The Mules also earned three penalty corners and maintained pressure throughout the second half.
Colby's defense and goalkeeping kept UNE off the scoreboard after its lone goal. The victory propelled Colby to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in the conference and UNE is now 4-5.
The Mules hit the field again on Saturday October third for a conference game at Middlebury College.
