Colby College

Waterville, Maine - After taking the lead 16 seconds into the second half, the Mules fell to Connecticut College in the waning minutes of the game. Although Colby has now lost 7 points from winning positions, their ability to find the opening goal is a testament to their capability, especially considering the strength of the NESCAC conference. The Mules are now 2-2-2 overall and 0-2-1 in NESCAC conference play. 

Like Colby's previous conference matchups, both teams were extremely evenly matched. The Mules got out to a strong start, with Anthony Bugliari testing the Camels' goalkeeper with a shot to the bottom right corner. On the opposite end, Jackson Magee registered his only save of the half, denying an effort to his left. The remainder of the half consisted of both teams vying for possession in the midfield, with the onus on possessing in the opponent's half. Joseph Beshel and Jude Gussen were instrumental in dictating the tempo in the center, leading to two late shots from Luke Cunniffe and Kameron Mohammed.

Coming out of the break, Charlie Scott found the back of the net almost immediately. The senior striker capitalized on a loose ball that fell to him from a free kick, taking Colby up 1-0. For the next fifteen minutes, the Mules kept their foot on the gas, registering five shots that forced two saves by efforts from Cunniffe and Santi Canencio Moreno. 

However, a push in the box resulted in a penalty kick for Conn College, which they converted to tie the game. Less than ten minutes later, the Camels found the go-ahead goal off a header, which would eventually be the winner. Gussen tested the goalie in the last minute, but was denied of a deserved equalizer. 

Colby continues their stretch of home games as they host Trinity College on Saturday, September 26th, at 2pm.
