Waterville, Maine - Colby Men's Soccer(3-2-2) took down Trinity(5-3-0), 1-0. The win is a testament to an experienced squad and the brilliant job that new head coach Sean Elvert has done in his two years.
Colby started quick out of the gate. Their first real chance came in the sixth minute as Kameron Mohammed floated a cross in with the outside of his right foot, connecting beautifully with Anthony Bugliari, who narrowly missed wide. The Mules registered 8 chances in the first half, with two of them forcing saves from the Trinity shot stopper. Charlie Scott had the last effort of the half but was denied heading into the break.
Colby looked even better in the second half, generating 11 shots to Trinity's 1. Sophomore Jude Gussen had six of those chances, with one of them being a contender for goal of the season right before the 70th minute. Gussen received the ball in his own half and ran with it, beating multiple defenders, until he reached the edge of the box where he unleashed a strike into the upper right side of the goal. The go-ahead goal would eventually be decisive as the Mules hung on defensively, stifling any attack from the Bantams.Â
Colby is back in action tomorrow at 3 pm, as they host Husson in a non-conference matchup.
