Indianapolis, Ind. — The Colby Women's Swimming and Diving team delivered another standout performance on Friday at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships, securing two podium finishes, scoring in four events, and resetting yet another school record at the Indiana University Natatorium.
The finals session began with the 200-meter medley relay team of
Alexis Coates,
Kellen Mottl,
Caitlin Lacey, and
Eliza Marco earning First Team All-American honors. The quartet secured a seventh-place podium finish to jump start the Mules' scoring for the day. Mottl provided a premier individual highlight in the 100-meter breaststroke. By placing eighth, Mottl earned a spot on the podium and First Team All-American status, becoming the first Colby women's swimmer to achieve the feat in an individual event since 2009.
In the 100-meter backstroke, Coates touched the wall in 12th place, earning Second Team All-American honors. The Mules also saw individual efforts from
Lexi Asch in the 200-meter butterfly and
Zoe Fencil in the 100-meter backstroke. The 800-meter freestyle relay served as the final event of the evening, where the Mules maintained their perfect relay scoring streak. The team of
Zoe Buzzelli,
Lucy Mackey,
Savannah Lombardi, and
Aria Kapoor placed 16th nationally, setting a new school record in the process. All four swimmers earned Second Team All-American honors for their performance. Colby has now successfully scored points in all four relay events contested thus far in the championship meet.
Entering the final day of competition, Colby sits in 14th place overall with 71.5 points. The national meet concludes Saturday with a schedule featuring the 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter backstroke, 200-meter breaststroke, and the 400-meter freestyle relay. Preliminary heats are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., with the final session of the championships beginning at 6:00 p.m.
