Mules Sweep New England College Behind Offensive Surge and Strong Pitching
Waterville, ME - The Colby College Mules (7-2) swept a Sunday doubleheader against New England College (2-11) at Coombs Field. Colby dominated game one with a 12-0 victory before securing a 6-1 win in the second game to complete the sweep.

Game One Mule Moments:

  • Colby struck early in the first inning, scoring two runs on a wild pitch and an RBI single from Myles Gythfeldt.
  • The Mules added another run in the second on a sacrifice fly from Will Burns to extend the lead to 3-0.
  • The game broke open in the fourth inning as Colby erupted for nine runs on four hits and multiple walks to take a commanding 12-0 lead.
  • Tony Silva highlighted the big inning with a two-RBI single, while L. Carriles-Alvarado, Jeb Burkhart, and Patrick Shrake each drove in runs during the rally.
  • Patrick Shrake led the offense with three hits and an RBI, while Tony Silva added two hits and two RBI.
  • Adam Schwartz (W, 1-0) was dominant on the mound, throwing five scoreless innings with nine strikeouts while allowing just four hits.
  • Ryan Heldenbergh closed out the shutout with two scoreless innings as Colby limited New England College to four hits.

Game Two Mule Moments:

  • Colby opened the scoring in the second inning when Myles Oo and Duncan Cullinane delivered back-to-back RBI doubles to give the Mules a 2-0 lead.
  • New England College got on the board in the fourth inning on an RBI double from Brady Philibotte.
  • The Mules responded immediately in the fourth, as Duncan Cullinane drove in two runs with a single to extend the lead to 4-1.
  • Tony Silva continued his strong day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
  • Colby added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings, including an RBI single from Silva and an RBI double from Henry Silva.
  • Greg Levin (W, 1-0) earned the win with five strong innings, allowing one run while striking out seven.
  • Aidan Aggarwal finished the game with two scoreless innings of relief as Colby secured the 6-1 victory.

The Mules will return to action later this weekend when they go down to Florida to play New York University
